As some of you may already know, we finally got the date for this coming year's football homecoming game. It will fall on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. The tentative plans are that we will participate in the homecoming parade and bonfire on Thursday, Sept. 20th. Hopefully, David Landa will be able to get us an 18 wheeler rig for the parade. Then on Friday, the 21st we plan on having a mixer/mingler (where to be determined) after the pep rally. The game will, of course, be that same night. After the game, the plan is to go over to someone's house (probably Joe Barrera's) for some food and drinks/music (party time). On Saturday, Sept. 22nd, we will be hosting the 35th class reunion dinner and dance at Embassy Suites Hotel on S. 2nd St (or Colonel Rowe Blvd as it has been renamed) behind McAllen Medical Center.
Embassy Suites is offering a special rate for anyone wishing to stay there (minimum 2 nights). The regular rate runs between $139 to $149 per night (more on certain times of the year). They are offering it at $104 per night. These rooms are suites and your stay includes a full breakfast buffet in the morning. I think this is a fantastic deal. Deadline to make your reservation is on Sept. 7th. After that date, the price goes back up.
We will be collecting money from anyone wanting to pay in advance. The fee is still the same as it has been for the last 2 reunions at $50 per person (not per couple). To avoid any inconveniences or extra costs we do ask that if you are planning on coming, please pay your fees as soon as possible, and no later than Aug. 31st. The count of people joining us has to be confirmed soon thereafter (caterers, t-shirts, etc). If you pay late (after Aug. 31st) your fee goes up to $75 per person. Please make check payable to:
